Creative Writing Workshop with Paul McAuley

Regrettably, Mort Castle has had to withdraw from World Horror Convention 2010 and sends his sincere apologies to everyone who signed up for his Creative Writing Workshops. However, we are delighted to announce that acclaimed British author Paul McAuley has agreed to take over the Creative Writing Workshops on the Friday and Saturday afternoons.

Grand Master Award

This is a reminder that voting for the World Horror Convention's own GRAND MASTER AWARD closes on DECEMBER 31, 2009. Each year, registered members of the current World Horror Convention can vote for the prestigious Grand Master Award, which will be presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the horror genre in their lifetime.

Creative Writing Workshop with Mort Castle

World Horror Convention 2010 is proud to announce that Mort Castle will once again be teaching a Creative Writing Workshop at the event. A writer for over four decades, and a writing teacher for almost as many years, Castle developed and edited Writing Horror for the HWA in 1997 and the expanded and revised edition, On Writing Horror, published in 2006 by Writer's Digest.

Special Media Guest: Ingrid Pitt

INGRID PITT is best known to horror film fans as Hammer Film's "Queen of Horror". Her roles in Sound of Horror (aka El sonido la muerte, 1964), The Omegans (1968), The Vampire Lovers (1970), Countess Dracula (1970), The House That Dripped Blood (1970, in an episode based on Robert Bloch's story 'The Cloak'), The Wicker Man (1973), Artemis 81 (1981), Clive Barker's Underworld (aka Transmutations, 1985), Green Fingers (2000), The Asylum (2000, opposite her daughter Steffanie, who plays the lead), Minotaur (2006), Hammer's Beyond the Rave (2008), Sea of Dust (2009) and the 'Vampirology' episode on the Urban Gothic TV series, have established her as an icon in the horror film genre. Her latest credit is a new version of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart (2009), which marks the last screen appearance of Robert ('Count Yorga') Quarry.

For those attendees who are looking for something a little bit different or are interested in exploring the darker history of Brighton, then we have arranged an exclusive GHOST WALK OF THE LANES--Brighton's Most Haunted Quarter--on the THURSDAY and SUNDAY evenings of the convention. Conducted by actor and storyteller Rob Marks in the guise of Silas the Ghost Hunter, splendiferously attired in full Victorian costume, THE GHOST WALK OF THE LANES is more of a street theatre event than a mere guided walk.
